ILE KEKERE LOGO

Finding a balance between environment, equity, and economy

Jewellery is my passion and I understand that jewellery making is tied to our planet, from the gemstones to the metals used to make the pieces I create and sell. I am committed to striving towards being more environmentally conscious.

I believe that the commercial activities of ÎLE KEKERE have the potential to impact on our suppliers, our environment, and our customers. As a socially responsible business, we have an obligation to ensure that our suppliers, local community, and customers all receive fair treatment from us. I also want to make sure that we are acting in an ethical manner above and beyond basic legal requirements. I know this is the right thing to do—not just because it's right for them, but because it's right for ÎLE KEKERE too.

Everyone should respect human and animal rights, promote ethical, social and environmental practices to better the jewellery making industry.

This involves looking at all aspects of ÎLE KEKERE to ensure all operations are performed in the most socially responsible manner possible including:

  • The manufacturing processes with recycled metals

  • Ethically sourced synthetic gemstones (labstones)

  • My facilities with improvements with waste and energy management

  • Supply chain code of practices to supply materials and goods

  • Working towards a climate positive workforce (although at the moment, it’s just me!)

Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond the mere integration of eco-friendly features into our products; it lies at the very core of the brand. Each packaging we use is FSC® certified, recyclable, and free from plastic. Moreover, we have joined forces with Greenspark to offset our carbon footprint, combat ocean plastic pollution, and contribute to reforestation efforts. For every order you make, a tree is planted, ensuring that your support directly contributes to a greener future.

We are also a proud member of the SME Climate Hub, a global initiative that empowers small to medium sized companies to take climate action and build more resilient businesses. Through the SME Climate Hub, we commit to lowering our impact on the environment through authentic action, halving our emissions by 2030. In making the commitment, we have joined the United Nations Race to Zero campaign.

ÎLE KEKERE jewellery is authentic and created with kindness in mind. It would be remiss for this kindness not to include respect to the world around us.

I am continuously striving to better my processes, from manufacturing to packaging, by implementing sustainable and ethical practices to honour what I do as and the impact that it can have on my clients and our planet. Our packaging is as unique and thoughtful as the pieces of jewellery it protects. Made entirely from sustainable and recyclable materials, we proudly stand against the use of any kind of plastic. We are devoted to minimising waste, supporting a greener future, and making our planet a better place for generations to come. Find out more about our packaging here.

ÎLE KEKERE is committed to ethical trading and corporate social responsibility. I believe that our business practices should have a positive impact on our suppliers, our community, and the environment. As part of this commitment, we have developed a policy that ensures that all workers involved in the delivery of our services are treated with full consideration to their basic human rights.

One of the key aspects of our policy is that we only use recycled or recyclable metals in our products. We do not use any mined gems in our jewellery, as we understand that mining can have a devastating impact on the environment and local communities. By using recycled and recyclable materials, we are reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainability.

  • ensure that all of staff, whether directly employed or working for our suppliers, are treated fairly and ethically.

  • no use of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour

  • taking the safety and well-being of our staff seriously- well I have to because it’s only me!

  • ensure that working conditions are safe and hygienic,

  • no use of any child labour in our operations,

Our commitment to ethical trading and corporate social responsibility is an ongoing process, and we are constantly striving to improve our practices. We believe that by promoting ethical and sustainable business practices, we can make a positive difference in the world.

In line with this commitment, we expect all workers involved in the delivery of services provided by ÎLE KEKERE to be treated with full consideration to their basic human rights.
