Ola McGhee

My vision has always been to create a jewellery brand that goes beyond just beautiful adornments. I believe that every woman, regardless of her background, deserves to wear unique, handmade jewellery that resonates with her personal style. My goal is to empower women, foster connections, and make a positive impact by offering accessible, ethically made pieces that tell stories and celebrate individuality. All through the art of jewellery."

ÎLE KEKERE founder, Ola McGhee

Aesthetically driven, we believe in the power of conscious adornment, creating handcrafted unique jewellery that not only enhances your style but also makes a positive impact on the planet

Our online boutique specialises in handmade and ethically sourced pieces. Combining elegance and ethics, we seek to redefine luxury, one unique jewel at a time

Designed by Ola McGhee, our fresh, modern and indulgent pieces are inspired by a love of nature. ÎLE KEKERE was created by Ola, having noticed a gap in the market for responsibly made and sourced quality affordable jewellery

Our jewellery is handmade by Ola McGhee and when you buy from us you are purchasing handmade items from an Essex based independent business.

Each piece is uniquely made

All our stones are glass or manmade labstones and our metals are ethically sourced or recycled, using them to create unique, long-lasting fashion jewellery

We rely on natural and high-quality basic materials so that you can enjoy wearing our jewellery for a long time. All metal elements are made of either vacuum gold-plated silver, brass, copper or stainless steel. We source our metals from the UK and Turkey and our gold-plated 925 sterling silver (vermeil) is made in the UK

The world of fast fashion and consumerism is causing unconscionable practices to thrive to the detriment of our planet and communities. ÎLE KEKERE was created to help make a difference

Our thoughts on gemstones and metals

Ethical gemstones are hard to find

The same can be said for ethical gold and silver

An ethical gemstone is one that is extracted from the ground with minimal environmental damage by unexploited miners who work in perfect conditions and profit from their finds rather than the profits being used to fund terrorism, corruption or war

We have opted not to use mined precious and semi-precious gems because we cannot be sure of them being fairly traded, ethically sourced, mined with no environmental impact or decent working conditions for workers

We use lab made gems (labstones) and glass beads in ÎLE KEKERE jewellery. These innovative materials offer a range of benefits, from affordability to ec0-friendliness, without compromising on style or quality

The ethical, political, economic and environmental issues to consider when buying gemstones are so immense that it is impossible to cover here. Check out our blog on this topic for more information

Our promise to you

  • to always use responsibly sourced materials

  • to use practices that do not pollute the environment or impact the planet in a negative way

  • to minimise our carbon footprint through local demand led production

  • to deliver genuine high quality pieces at a fair price

  • always use FSC certified recyclable packaging

  • to never use any plastic

  • to never use any mined gems

  • one tree planted for every order placed
